case 1 :---
the wrong part in ur sol. is p>-3
the actual result is like this:-
p<-3 , p>1.
 
case 2 :---
p<-1, p>1
 
on combining
p<-3 &p>1       (choose the common part in both)
 
remember  ax2 +bx + c >0 iff a>0 & D<0
