since planets and sun rotate about their common centre of mass, so the orbit of a planet is not exactly circular but elliptical, also a farthar planet can have a centre of mass which lies outside the sun, so farther planets deviate appreciably from a circular orbit, whereas near ones have nearly circular orbit
