Atom is chemically indivisible because on dividing the atom into its constituents- electrons, protons, neutrons etc. it no more remains to be an atom of the same identity, i.e, its chemical properties change.
i.e, chemical properties of an atom with atomic number 3 is different from that of atomic number 2 (here the atom is divided to remove an proton but not an electron, because even after removing an electron , ions form whose properties are similar to that of the atom)
whereas physically it is divisible in its constituents.
Thus an atom(to be more precise an ion) is the smallest particle which cant be further subdivided
Thus Atom is chemically indivisible, but physically divisible
Hope it's clear now
