ur statement But for rotating torque(couple of force) is to be act is wrong!!!
torque is required only for changing angular momentum but in the case of earth the angular momentum of earth do not change hence no torque act on earth also bcoz gravitation force is the only major external force which act on earth whoch act along the line joining the centre of earth and sun so angle b/w radius vector and force is zero so torque due to gravitation force is also zero
