why lattice energy and hydration energy decrease with increase in ionic size

with increase in ionic size...the stability of lattice decreases due to less compactness...also solvaton by water molecules is more for smaller molecules like fluorine..so hydration enthalpy decreases

As atomic size increases seperation between anion and cation increases in crystal, which decreases latice energy. With increase in size charge density on ions decreases which decreases hydration energy.
