IF GOING UP OR DOWN WITH A CONSTANT VELOCITY THAN, NO EFFECT

IF GOING UP OR DOWN WITH A CONSTANT ACCn then also no effect

as whole system is going in same frame of reference...hence the pulley will also be

accelerating in same magnitude& direction..

(hope your doubt is cleared . and i m correct)

if lift is going up or down with constant velocity then the tension will be same as it was (when it was at rest) but if it os going upward with some aceeleration (no matter constant or not) then effective value of g will increase and hence tension will also increase. and xactly opposite if going downward with some acceleration.

Hence i think abhi has done a small mistake while stating that
(IF GOING UP OR DOWN WITH A CONSTANT ACCn then also no effect)

it depends on the frame u choose
if the observer is in the lift too
then what ever the accelration is the tension remains the same
but when the observer is not in lift then ans is as given by INDIAN ARMY
