12. STATEMENT-1 : When one object collides with another object, the impulse during deformation and restitution will be in same direction.
because

STATEMENT-2 : Due to this impulse the objects first deform and due to the same pulse they again try to regain its original shape.
(A) Statement-1 is True, Statement-2 is True; Statement-2 is a correct explanation for Statement-1.
(B) Statement-1 is True, Statement-2 is True; Statement-2 is NOT a correct explanation for Statement-1.
(C) Statement-1 is True, Statement-2 is False.
(D) Statement-1 is False, Statement-2 is True.

 consider the case ....

EX.

a 2kg mass with velocity 5m/s  & a 3kg mass with velocity 2m/s , moving respectively in +x,-x direction.(initially).    .....so the net impulse is in +x dir.

after the collision , if masses fuse to one(OR SUM OTHER CASE),then net impulse will be in +x dir. as initial case.

SO,CORRECT ANSWER IS (A)

I agree with akash......every action has an equal an opposite reaction. Here deformation will take place due to the force arising fron change in momentum;the reaction to this forms reverses the deformation.

dude here is what is meant by impulse during restitution..........impulse come into the scenario when the change in momentum takes place in a very short duration. Restitution means when the ball are being separated......the change in momentum during this very short period of time called impulse during restitution........hope i made my point
