There was no independent development of industries in India during British rule because of the

a) absence of heavy industries

b) scarcity of foreign capital

c) scarcity of natural resources

d) preference of the rich to invest in land

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.

There was no independent development of industries in India during British rule because of the preference of the rich to invest in land. During the British period it is the land owners of Zamindars who mostly formed the capitalist class. Not so much aware of modern economics they preferred investment in land.
