Ok from inorganic Element A burns in nitrogen to give an ionic compound B. Compound B reacts with water to give C and D. A solution of C becomes milky on bubbling CO2. Identify A, B , C and D JEE 1997
answer to this qs....
see A jo hai...its burns in nitrogen and it gives B...and its also given ki B is an Ionic compound..
so B must be a metal nitride...
and also its given that B reacts with water to give 2 products i.e C and D
so 1 of these must be ammonia and 1 mst be a metal hydroxide
as C becomes milky
so we all know its Calcium hydroxide
so we can find A is Ca and B is Ca3N2

Compound X(formula C5H8O) does not react appreciably with Lucas Reagent at room temperature but gives a precipitate with ammonical silver nitrate with excess of Me Mg Br, 0.42 g of X gives 224 ml of CH4 at STP. Treatment of X with H2 in presence of Pt catalyst followed by boiling with excess HI, gives n pentane. Suggest structure for X and write the eqn involved

You are given marbles of diameter 10mm. They are to be placed such that their centres are lying in a square bond by four lines each of length 40mm. What will be the arrangement of marbles in a plane so that maximum number of marbles can be placed inside the area. Sketch the diagram and derive the expression for number of molecules per unit area.

A current of 15.0 A is applied to plate nickel in NiSO4 bath. Both Ni and H2 are formed at the cathode. the current efficiency with respect to formation of Ni is 60%. (a) how many g of Ni is plated on the cathode per hour ? (b) Wht is the thickness of the plating if the cathode consists of a sheet of metal 4 cm square wch is coated on both cases ? the density of Ni is 8.9 g/cm3 (c) wht volume of H2 (STP) is formed per hour ?

Apurv has started this forum, I congratulate and thanks him for doing so. I also started a chem QBANK long ago but neither could I post some questions in it nor I got very good response for that. But I am happy that people are responding well to this forum. Well Guys, I wanted to give an advice for this forum as I did in Physics and Maths QBANKs. Please don't post the solutions to the questions here. Post ur question along with the answer but not solution. Everyday many new people join GOIIT, they also have right to do these questions. But when they will find the solution of the question in front of them, they will not solve the question willingly and whole heartedly. I told the same in physics and maths QBANKs. We want these QBANKs to serve as online books of good questions. So please if U think my point is right, then please don't post the solutions here. Those who want the solution can contact the author of that particular question.
