Abhishek started a business with a sum of Rs.50,000. After a year, he again invested Rs.30,000 and made Sudeen his partner who invested Rs. 70,000. At the end of three years, total profit was Rs.87,500. What was the share of Sudeen.

Abhishek's Capital = Rs.50,000 for 1 year + Rs.80,000 for 2 years

= Rs.50,000 + Rs.1,60,000 = Rs.210,000 for 1 year

Sudeen's capital = Rs.70,000 for 2 years = Rs.140,000 for 1 year

Because the profits are divided in the ratio of the capital

2,10,000: 140,000

therefore the ratio is 3:2

Share of Sudeen out of 87,500 = Rs. 2/5 X 87,500 = Rs. 35,000

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where the heck is the ceiling.
